ALHOSN University celebrated the 43rd
Anniversary of the National Day of the United Arab Emirates in a wonderful atmosphere. It was clad in an authentic heritage style which reflected the history of the United Arab Emirates. There was an old cafe with all its components on display, as well as a market, selling food items and traditional perfume. Visitors enjoyed sitting in the heritage tent, which offered popular cuisine and traditional ornamental carvings.
This year the celebrations included an exhibition of children's drawings with the UAE as the main theme. It was an opportunity for them to express their love and attachment to the country. All the children participating in the exhibition were congratulated on their good work.
Everybody enjoyed the “yola” traditional dancing show. A heritage competition also took place with questions ranging from ancient heritage words, to popular proverbs and a quiz about the history of the UAE.
At the end of the event an announcement was made about the intention of the university to commemorate the late Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazroui, and his efforts to preserve the heritage of the UAE. This will be done by launching a new Faculty at ALHOSN, The “Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazroui faculty for Culture and Heritage".
Dr. Mohammed Saeed El Naby Head of the Department of Education, and chair of the organizing committee said: "This year’s celebration was resplendent with the history of the great United Arab Emirates; it focused mainly on heritage through the displays presented. He stressed that one of the most important features in this year’s celebration were the children's drawings. These aimed at strengthening their national identity, and this was why we honored every one of them to make them feel the importance of their contribution and the love for their country that this illustrated. Dr Mohamed Saeed also thanked the students of the Department of Education whose contribution to the organization of the event exceeded all expectations in terms of effort and quality”
Both HE Khalifa Mohamed Rubaya Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University and the Vice Chancellor Prof. Munther Talal Momany attended the event. The well known media reporter Salama Al Muhairi was also present as well as a huge number of university guests from various educational and social institutions together with the university faculty, staff, students and their families.
