The American Corner of Abu Dhabi City at ALHOSN University hosted a presentation on 24 September 2013 by the Department of Management Information Systems titled “Majoring in MIS: Opportunities and Challenges”. The Department Chair, Dr. Fadia Hegazy, introduced the Bachelor of Information Systems Management (BMIS) program. “ALHOSN University is the only private educational institution that takes pride in offering a highly competitive MIS program in Abu Dhabi. MIS is a challenging field of study that focuses on integrating computer-based information technology solutions and business processes to meet the information needs of public and private enterprises.” Dr. Hegazy added, “MIS students acquire knowledge of Business & Technology. This dynamic combination of skills maximizes the chances of our graduates to succeed as professional leaders in the field of MIS.”
MIS faculty members Prof. Kamel Ghorab and Dr. Mohamed Zineddine demonstrated how the BMIS degree prepares its graduates to become technology managers who can lead enterprises in innovative ways. The faculty pointed out how the program prepares its graduates as analytical problem solvers, and as such “offers them an opportunity to develop and deploy IT to create technological value for their organizations.”
The presenters highlighted BMIS’s innovative integration of the liberal arts, professional education, and service learning, which would continue its climb towards excellence. Through creative collaborations on campus, and around the Abu Dhabi community, nationally and internationally, “we provide students hands-on learning experiences that connect theory with practice and engage society.”
The presentation concluded with a Q & A session followed by an opportunity for social networking.
