The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences arranged its first informatory lecture titled “Sustainable Development and Green Path” by Dr. Ali Al Amoudi, UAE Environmental Consultant and Senior Environmental Engineer at TAKREER – ADNOC.
The lecture was attended by Dr. Mohamed Saeed, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Hassan Al Samarrai, Director of the Continuing Education Center and Associate Professor of the Education Department, Dr. Waleed Akku, Professor at Sorbonne University, Dr. Rafik Sakkaf, Assistant Professor of the Civil Engineering Department, and many Faculty Members, Staff and Students.
The presentation discussed the concept of Sustainable Development and the efforts of the UAE in this regard. Dr. Al Amoudi spoke about the achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan on the Environment, and presented his book “Zayed the man of the Environment” published in 1999.
The lecture explained energy alternatives, such as: gaseous fuel as a substitute for oil, using sustainable transportation like the metro and encouraging carpooling. He also discussed the necessity of saving energy to reduce carbon emissions.
At the end of the lecture; Dr. Mohamed Saeed awarded Dr. Ali Al Amoudi a crystal logo and a certificate of appreciation for his efforts and enriching our students’ knowledge.
