“The Software Engineering Industry Advisory Board met on May 21, 2014. They discussed how to maintain the high quality of teaching at ALHOSN University, closing the gap between the industrial and academic sectors and preparing our students for successful careers in the future.
The advisory board members represent 9 companies and governmental organizations, such as: Technip, Cloud Technologies, Dorah Emirates for Networking Security and Protection, Smart Solutions, C4, ADCO, ADMA, Amplex Emirates, Ministry of Culture and the Abu Dhabi Municipality. Dr. Adel Khelifi (Interim Provost for Academic Affairs & Associate Professor in the SWE Department), Dr. Maher Aburrous (Chair of the SWE Department), Dr. Samia Loucif (Associate Professor in the SWE Department), Mrs. Haifaa Kattan (Instructor in the SWE Department) and Mr. Murad Al Rajab (Instructor in the SWE Department)all participated during the meeting to add a positive impact to the program.
Dr. Maher Aburrous welcomed the attendees and gave a presentation about the SWE Department achievements, such as the ABET accreditation and student enrollment. This was followed by a brief presentation by Dr. Adel Khelifi about the University and the excellent quality of teaching.
Dr. Maher presented to the attendees a list of key points for further discussion, and the members reviewed the curriculum focusing on the contents of courses and elective courses currently offered. It was suggested to provide workshops, more internships, field trips and scholarships to help serve the current and future students better.
The meeting ended at 14:00 after which participants had lunch at the University Cafeteria.
