ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university dedicated to high-quality value-based education, recently paid a visit to the Special Care Centre in Abu Dhabi to enlighten students on the status of children with special needs.
Several Staff and students participated in this trip as part of an awareness campaign designed to enrich and enhance perspective amongst the ALHOSN University Community. The trip is part of a much larger conversation about humanity and compassion; virtues that can have significant impacts on life, both inside and outside of the classroom. ALHOSN University has continued to develop programs and activities that deliver graduates who are humanitarian advocates and are prepared to make differences in society. The University has been involved in similar initiatives, demonstrating its commitment to academic and social development for all students. Last January, ALHOSN University participated in the Abilities Development Centre for Handicapped’s 1st Sports Fest for the Handicapped in Abu Dhabi. Students included in the Special Care Centre visit will later on develop an internal awareness campaign to encourage more help for special needs children, especially in terms of educational assistance.
“Many of our students will go on to assume leadership positions, so it is important that they be exposed to the different segments of society that need help the most. Visits to institutions such as the Special Care Centre build compassion and understanding within our students, and give them the perspective needed to make conscious decisions that work to the benefit of society within their respective fields. We must continue to embrace all members of our society, and this visit is one of many ways in which ALHOSN will continue to engage in order to enhance the welfare of Abu Dhabi’s less fortunate youths,” said Mahasen Al Mahasneh, Student Activities Coordinator at ALHOSN University.
The Special Care Centre is a non-profit organization accredited by the Ministry of Social Affairs as an ‘Establishment for Disabled Care and Rehabilitation.’ It has been operating as an educational facility for children with special needs in Abu Dhabi for the past 18 years. The Centre has served around 350 students and provides discounted fees to
