The Reading Club hosted Dr. Najeeb Abdul Wahab for a public lecture titled “Books and Authors”. Dr. Najeeb Abdul Wahab received his Bachelor from Al Azhar University and PhD from University of Exeter, UK. He worked as a Professor in UAE University, and currently is a TV Host for well known Islamic and Cultural Programs.
Dr. Najeeb presented samples of original books in the Arabic and Islamic culture, focusing on Imam Malik’s book “Al Muwatta”.
Dr. Najeeb described the efforts of the UAE and his own contribution to searching for rare manuscripts in several countries such as, Morocco, The Soviet Union, and Jordan. These efforts focus on portraying and keeping these manuscripts as an example of exceptional manmade heritage. Dr. Abdul Wahab also pointed out the financial and moral efforts of the Jumaa Al Majid Center in protecting these precious manuscripts.
The session was attended by Dr. Mohamed Saeed Hasab El Naby; Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Mohamed Kashif; Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Alhaj Salim Mustafa; Director of University Library and Professor in the Social Sciences Department, Mr. Murad Al Rajab; Software Engineering Department, Mr. Hanafi Jayil; Sultan Bin Zayed’s Center for Culture and Media, as well as a large number of students.
As the lecture came to an end, the Reading Club presented Dr. Najeeb Abdul Wahab a certificate and a crystal logo as an appreciation for his valuable contributions to the University.
