The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences in association with The Irish Corner organised an invited seminar on May 14, 2014 conducted by Mr. Dermot Harte, BE CEng DipPM FIEI, Head of Utilities, Infrastructure Dept., and Mr. Mohamed Sbeihat, BSc. Senior Water Engineer and Team Leader for the modeling, analysis and design of gravity storm water and wastewater collection systems. They were accompanied by Ms.Hiba Kasou, Assistant Project Manager herself a graduate of ALHOSN University.
The title of the Seminar was: “WS Atkins – International Consultants with a Local Emphasis”. The speakers discussed Atkins role and how they viewed consultancy in both global and local perspectives.
There was an introduction on WS Atkins by Mr. Harte which continued with an overview of several consultancy projects that Atkins have accomplished globally ,focusing on the GCC countries. He went on to explain about the career paths and internship options available within Atkins.
Mr. Sbeihat presented on a storm water project that they are currently working on in Saudi Arabia. The seminar was concluded by questions and answers giving students an opportunity to actively participate and ask about careers, internships and the projects that were presented.
