The American Corner in Abu Dhabi
at ALHOSN University was officially re-inaugurated on 10th
April 2016 to promote mutual understanding and an exchange of ideas between the United States and the United Arab Emirates by providing access to current and reliable information about the US by way of book and DVD collections, internet databases, and through local programming to the general public.
The American Corner at ALHOSN University is one of over 700 American Corners world-wide, one of three in the United Arab Emirates, and the first American Corner in the city of Abu Dhabi which was officially established in January 2011.
The United States Ambassador to the UAE, Ms. Barbara A Leaf, ALHOSN University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mr. Kalifa Mohamed Rubaya al Muhairi, and Vice Chancellor and CEO, Dr. Mohamed Kashef, formally re-inaugurated the American Corner in the presence of dignitaries from across the UAE and the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The ALHOSN University Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Holding Company also took part in the festivities marking the event.
The American Corner is a resource center for US history, culture, policy and business.
The re-opening of ALHOSN’s American Corner was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a garden reception next to the Community Center. University students, faculty and staff as well as other community representatives attended the festivities.
