The Reading Club at the University of ALHOSN, and the Department of Architecture undertook a field visit to Sharjah International Book Fair, which was launched on the sixth of November 2013 and will continue until the 16 of the same month. This is the twenty-third session of the exhibition currently held at the "Sharjah Expo. Center.”
The exhibition includes about 405 thousand titles, with an increase of 20 thousand titles over last year, in the various fields of knowledge, literature, culture and science. Different cultural activities are also included.
Dr. Mohammad Kashef Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and Chairman of the Department of Architecture endeavored to update himself in the field of architecture, and took note of the latest publications and references as they could be useful in teaching as well as in the development of textbooks. He also contacted several publishing companies, which expressed their willingness to keep the university informed of their publications in the field of engineering, and the other university programs.
Dr. Mohammed Saeed El Naby, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and supervisor of the Reading Club said he was delighted to visit Sharjah International Book Fair, which keeps evolving every year. This year it includes sections for books in Arabic and English, Islamic books, general interest books, books for children and adolescents, and many other topics of interest to the Arab intellectual. This is an instance where visitors are gathered around the love of reading, and the yearning for knowledge. Sharjah International Book Fair has gained a global reputation, and this event has become a cultural asset to be added to the achievements of the United Arab Emirates.
