The Department of Business Administration at ALHOSN University, under the guidance of Dr. Hazem Marashdeh, organized the first edition of “Elocution Contest” on November 25th, 2012 . The aim of the competition was to provide a platform for students in the Faculty of Business to build confidence, increase self-esteem, and develop strong leadership skills.
Seven dedicated contestants entered the competition. Their performances were evaluated by a team of three judges: Prof Ahmed Zohdi, Dr Hassan Belhiah, and Dr Belal Barhem. At the end, Ms Maram Taha from the Business Department emerged victorious and was awarded the top prize for her impeccable presentation on the topic “After graduation: Should you work for the public or private sector?” The second prize was awarded to Ms Huda Abdul Khader from the Business Department as she presented her reflections on “Women leadership in the UAE,” while the third prize went to Ms Nadia Al Ameri for her speech on the topic, “Tourism prospects in Abu Dhabi.” Prior to the elocution contest, training sessions and workshops were provided by Dr. Taimur Sharif and Ms Rekha Pillai in order to familiarize students with the fundamentals of public speaking.
The event took place in the American Corner at ALHOSN University with Prof. Raymond, the Provost, gracing the occasion. Prof. Raymond emphasized the importance of conducting similar student development activities in the near future and handed the candidates their awards and certificates of participation.
