IIE @ ALHOSN 2010

During its second annual meeting, held on April 19, 2010 at ALHOSN’s Male Campus, the Industrial Engineering department introduced the newly established student chapter for the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) at ALHOSN University, the second IIE student chapter in the UAE.
IIE is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial engineering profession. Founded in 1948, IIE is an international, nonprofit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial engineering.
The objectives of the IIE student chapter at ALHOSN University are:
Promote the profession of Industrial Engineering through organized efforts in study, research and discussion of the fields of Industrial Engineering and the dissemination of the knowledge thereby gained. 
Promote membership in IIE by acquainting the student body with the ideas, purposes and objectives of IIE.
Create a link between ALHOSN, local industry, regional schools, and alumni.
IE @ ALHOSN 2010 gathered prominent figures from the public and private sectors, as well as regional academia, and students to share insights on how IE could solve the challenges faced by different organizations in the UAE.
Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO of ALHOSN University, gave the opening speech. Mr Mohammed Fakhreddin, Vice-President of ALHOSN University IIE Student Chapter,  explained the rationale behind the student chapter. Mr Mohamed Ahmed Al Neaimi, Executive Manager of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, delivered a lecture entitled “Abu Dhabi 2010-2030: Supporting the Growth of the Emirate.”
Senior students from the Industrial Engineering Department showcased practical applications of IE concepts and organized a poster session during the afternoon. Dr Hamdi Sheibani, Provost and Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, delivered the closing address.
