Students and staff members of ALHOSN’s Sports Club joined over 2,000 others including children, teams and elite athletes who took part in the ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi 2015 on Saturday, March 8th
This marks Team ALHOSN’s 5th
year straight participating in this event dubbed the “world’s most glamorous triathlon”. Student volunteers managed the run aid stations along the race course at the Corniche, handing out water, electrolytes, energy gels and soaked sponges. Volunteers also helped to manage the biking aid station for the professional event. This crucial operation would normally make or break an event. Our team shone throughout!
On the race course, Team ALHOSN participated in the sprint distance race. In the team relay event, Mrs. Haifaa Kattan, Mr. Ward Al Kasab and Mr. Abrahem Al Khader took turns swimming (500 meters), biking (20 km) and running (5 km) consecutively. They crossed the finish line in a gross time of 1:49:25.
By the end of the day, students were exhausted but excited and vowed to TRI it again, and perform even better next time. Special thanks to the volunteers; Ward AlKasab, Mohannad Jamal, Abraham Khader, AlBaraa Al Moussa, Omar AlKasab, Abdulrahman Nayef, Wasim Houran, Mohammad Tareq Barakat, Wael Abutaqiya, Mohammed Al Abbadi and Mrs. Haifaa Kattan.
