The American Corner of Abu Dhabi City hosted its fifth edition of “Coffee with a Diplomat” on Tuesday 26 April 2016. Over 15 students and staff met with Michelle Su, Economic Assistant at the U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi, who seized the occasion of Earth Day this month to address the topic of Climate Change. The session, moderated by Green Club Advisor Dr. Adnan Husnéin, was an opportunity for our guest to share her own experience in practicing “green living” which stimulated many interesting questions from the audience.
Michelle joined the State Department in May 2015 and handles the environment, science, technology and health portfolios. Prior to joining the embassy, Michelle spent nine years working at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (the equivalent of a state audit institution) doing performance audits of homeland security and justice programs and operations. Previous government work included a Scheduler for U.S. Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (CA-38) and interning at The White House under President Clinton's administration. Michelle grew up in Orange County, California. She earned her Masters of International Affairs from the University of California, San Diego and her BA from the University of San Diego.
