ALHOSN Sports Club Olympics

The Sports Club at ALHOSN University hosted its first Olympics tournament from February 23 to March 4, 2015. ALHOSN Olympics challenged students and staff to an interdepartmental competition. Sixty six participants competed in activities which included Swimming (Armed Officers Club), Biking (Golf Club), Running (Yas Marina Circuit), Billiards (Emirates Bowling Village), TeleMatch, Bowling and Football (Abu Dhabi Country Club).
The winners were announced on the evening of Wednesday March 4. The event kicked off with fun games led by Mr. Karim so that participants got to mix fun with competitive spirit with games featuring: the squat position and endurance tests like backs toward the wall.  Attendees were also entertained and took part in a demonstration of “Laughing Yoga” presented by Burjeel Hospital.

Faculty members, Mrs. Haifaa Kattan and Ms. Huda Kindi worked tirelessly organize ALHOSN Sports Club Olympics. And Mr. Mohamed Al Blooshi organized the football tournament. The Sports Club advisor acknowledged all volunteers, Mrs. Rani Akkad, Alaa Shakra, Saeed Al Ali, Ward Al Kassab and Mohamed Al Kabra.
The day concluded with a presentation of medals, customized shirts and caps according to sports activity to all the winning individuals and teams. Provost, Dr. Adel Khelifi, whose presence and active participation lent much needed support, said “This event was a wonderful event for bringing people together.  I was amazed to see how both students and staff really enjoyed the sports activities. “He finished with the Latin proverb “Mens sana in corpore sano” usually translated as "A sound mind in a sound body” to encourage students and staff to participate in future sporting events. Altogether the ALHOSN Olympics were a great success!
