The American Corner in collaboration with the Green Club celebrated Earth Day 2015 on Wednesday 22 April. Over 50 Students and staff at ALHOSN University tuned in on Jason Graham’s slam poetry, and dabbled in paint with artist Jesse Roberts as our community joined people worldwide in a renewed heartfelt commitment to the protection and care of our planet. The audience enjoyed a short screening of the evocative cinematic visual documentary “Baraka” which included footage of various landscapes, ruins, religious ceremonies, and cities thrumming with life, and captured the great pulse of humanity as it flocks and swarms in daily activity. The evening concluded with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Munther Momany, leading the way to the signing the “Pledge to the Environment,” and the ceremonial cake cutting. This was the 45th
anniversary of Earth Day.
Special thanks to the VC, Elizabeth Stromme and Jeremy Jewett of the US Embassy, and to our faculty especially Dr. Hassan Mustapha, Dr. Mehdi Shemirani, Dr. Hassan Al Samarrai, Dr. Mohamed Hasab El Nabi, Ms. Ruba Hamouri, Alexander Soldat, and the Green Club! Last but not least, our own Sudheesh Pankan, and IT specialists Mr. Ahmad and Mr. Praveen did a superb job.
Happy Earth Day!
